Is Jesus real? - Supernatural testimonies of God working today.

The question if Jesus is real is the most important question of all time. If He is real, then He is the greatest hope and there is salvation. Eternal life is a concept that is hard to grasp because we are surrounded by the constant reminder of death. We live in a world full of darkness where that darkness is our own fear and doubt. So if Jesus is real, then one’s perspective on life will change drastically because He is the light of life!

There are many veins of evidence to examine which speak to the reality of Jesus. Here I present two stories from my own personal testimony and a testimony from a book called “Knowing the Whole Truth”. These testimonies show the reality of Jesus and that He is alive and seated at the right hand of God.

This first testimony happened to me when I first became a christian.

Jesus on the Cross

That night as I lay by myself on my bed I had a holy visitation. I could hear a drip, drip, drip, drip. I also kept seeing a post stuck into the ground. This was no figment of my imagination, for it happened three or four times! This puzzled me. The last time it happened, I said to myself, "I'm going to look up this time and find out where it (the drip, drip, drip, drip) is coming from."

As soon as I looked up, I could not see my room anymore. It was blacker than night all around me. I was not expecting to see what I saw! It was the Lord Jesus. He had His arms stretched out on the cross. His upper body had great muscular definition which tapered down to His hips. His hair was medium length and had a slight curl.

The dripping I heard was His blood falling to the ground. And the post in the ground I saw was the cross He was hanging on. I could see the nails in His hands and feet. The only light I saw was behind the cross and as soon as I saw that light I said, "That's God!" The light was pure, soft and white and I could feel the living presence of God as I looked into the light. The light (God) comforted me.

I knew Jesus was watching me. He didn't verbally say anything to me, but I could hear what He was thinking. And as I heard His words, flashes of light would emanate from his head. The light was the same as the light behind the cross. And this is what He said to me, "I love you, you are my beloved son." He then bowed his head and I saw His spirit leave His body.

Jesus died for my wrong doings so that I could be restored to God. Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” (John 10:11) There is no greater love than that.

This next testimony happened to me a few months after the first testimony.

Jesus on the Throne

One day while living in that apartment, I was feeling down and slightly depressed, but a determination arose in my to not accept what the devil was laying on me. Every child of God experiences the oppression of the enemy, and sometimes you just get plain tired of the devil’s constant poking. That day I finally got tired of it and I laid down on my bed.

I lifted my hands toward heaven and prayed. It started out slow and soft; it was all in tongues. Gradually it grew more intense and fervent. I could tell the devil was trying to hinder me, but the more he tried the more fervent I became. This battle in the spirit went on for quite some time. I knew God was hearing me, and I was expecting an answer, but I didn’t know how He would answer me.

The door was closed, the drapes were pulled, and the lights were off making the room dark. Looking in the direction of my feet, I suddenly noticed something coming toward me.  It was moving very slowly. I became terrified. Several times I said, “What is that!?” At first, it was looking at car lights through a dense fog, but the closer it got the clearer it became. I was physically paralyzed with fear. I tried to move parts of my body but couldn’t--not even a twitch! The fear was overwhelming.

Suddenly I recognized who was coming toward me. It was Jesus. He was sitting on a white throne, dressed in white robes draped from His shoulders to His feet. The right sleeve of his robe was pushed up on top of His shoulder making His right arm bare. His arm was strong and had great definition to it and it was resting upon the armrest of His throne. There was a crown on His head and He had an angry look on His face (it is difficult to describe). His eyes were aflame with fire--I mean literal fire! The fire in His eyes is what frightened me the most. I learned what it means to fear the Lord.

There I was before the Lord, gripped with fear and unable to move. I don’t know if He brought me into His throne room or if He brought His throne into my room. For I could see both at the same time.

As I was watching Him I also saw demonic spirits out of the sides of my eyes. They were dull green and blue in color, like sewage. I became acutely aware how they were hindering me. It was if they had grabbed my arms and were trying to pull me down.

His throne stopped a few feet from the end of my bed and He slowly raised His arm and pointed in my direction. He spoke a name which I could not understand and then said, “release him.” Instantly after He spoke those words, every demon spirit that was hindering me, with the speed of light, departed from me. My body physically shook as they let go of me. An unusual feeling welled up within me as I was set free, It was like pulling up weeds next to a good plant, where suddenly the good plant has all the light in the garden to grow in. My eyes grew wide as the grand canyon. Jesus then slowly lowered His arm and departed exactly the same way He came.

In the book of Revelation it is written, “And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.” (Revelation 19:11-12) This testimony reflects what is written in the scripture. The one thing that terrified me the most was the flames of fire in His eyes. You do not want to be on the wrong side when you stand before him on the last day!

The next testimony comes from a book called “Knowing the Whole Truth” by James D. Kennedy (page 72).

The Ordeal of Thomas Welch

He was a construction man and just a few years ago he was building a dam thirty miles from Portland, Oregon. he was walking across the trestle fifty-five feet above the water when his foot slipped and he fell headlong for thirty feet until he landed on his head on a beam and then another, and finally fell into the water where his body disappeared.

About ninety people were working on that site, and immediately they stopped their work and began to look for Welch's body at the bottom of the lake. It wasn't until more than forty-five minutes later that they dragged him up from the bottom of the lake. They thought surely that he must be dead. There was no heartbeat. He was not breathing.

However, they began to apply cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques. Revived, eventually he opened his eyes and said, "What happened?" Welch remembered more clearly than any other hour in his entire life everything which had transpired during that time.

He said he had awakened on the shore of a vast and illimitable lake of turbulent, rolling blue flame. The heat had been almost insufferable. In the darkness around him he had been able to see a number of other people, some he had known, who had died before and now stood there with looks of utter astonishment upon their faces.

Neither he nor anyone else was in the lake yet, he said, but he knew it surely must be his fate. Strange monstrous creatures, half-human and half-something else, appeared and disappeared in the darkness. Abject terror took hold of him, and he spoke aloud without even realizing it, saying, "If I had known that there was such a place as this, I would have done anything to keep from coming here."

There was no escape. The very thought was beyond consideration. Suddenly, he saw a figure of a person clothed in white with a look of perfect serenity and strength in his face. He knew instantly who it must be, but this person was walking in an angle away from him. he thought, "If only I could speak to Jesus perhaps he could help me." Walking away until he was almost out of sight, Jesus suddenly turned and looked right at him. In the next instant, Welch awoke with people working on his body.

In the Thomas Welch story the most revealing statement is where it says, “In the darkness around him he had been able to see a number of other people, some he had known, who had died before and now stood there with looks of utter astonishment upon their faces.” Finding yourself on the shores of the lake of fire in “utter astonishment” is not the wake up call to the reality of God that you want to experience. Mr. Welch was ignorant and God in His infinite mercy gave him a second chance. After reading these testimonies you now have an opportunity to change your destiny and ask God to save you. So the question is, what are you willing to do to keep from going there?
